Dear Leo, this is your career horoscope for 2017:
Even if you wanted to, moving into the New Year with Mercury in retrograde motion in your work sector is going to have the brakes on from the get go, making it hard to start the year in sprint mode. Regardless of when you return to work, when your professional year starts or even if you had to work through the holiday period, the brakes are on for the first few days. While the Sun will always spend the first three weeks of January in your work sector, so the solar spotlight will always be on your work situation, matters and options from the get go, you’re not usually left standing at one of life’s ‘stop’ signs. Yet after a hectic few months in late 2016, chances are there will be no protests, welcoming a chance to hear yourself think. Mercury’s departure on the 5th January might take you by surprise, for instead of moving on he will retrograde back out, returning to start over again from scratch just eight days later, on the 13th January. It is as though his first visit, from the 3rd December to the 5th January didn’t count, which of course it did count. Normally racing through in just 15 days, having already spent a month helping you to get your head in the game, ideas on the table and the communication lines open, Mercury returns for a double dip visit and with a chance for a complete do over, from the 13th January to the 7th February. With the Sun leaving on the 20th January, Mercury will stay on, allowing you to keep your head in the game and with 20/20 hindsight and a wealth of experience under your belt, slowly and methodically making the choices, decisions and plans that will put your work and job matters on the course you want them to take. After that, while Pluto will keep the wheels turning throughout the year, it will be more about keeping the momentum going, before Saturn’s game changing return on the 20th December. This will be Saturn’s first visit to your work sector in three decades, but the only time that he ever has or ever will meet with Pluto here again. From December 2017 to December 2020 Pluto, planet of change and revolution and Saturn, the planet that gives you the power to move mountains, will take you through the most powerful years for work growth in your lifetime. So it’s no wonder that the professional gods ask you to just slow down and take a breath before moving into this new professional year. There will be a huge scurry of activity once Saturn returns on the 20th December, but until then this is more something you’re preparing for. This leaves you free to focus on case matters as a parade of planets move through your career sector from the 5th February to the 5th July. To begin with Ceres, who returns to your career sector two days before Mercury’s departure from your work sector, is here to help take a second look at your sense of purpose, ready for Mars’ return on the 10th March, when things will really take off. The most active months for career matters will run from the 12th March to the 5th July, with the first six weeks and the last four weeks the most important.
