Saturn Retrograde in Scorpio until 21st July – it’s nearly over!

The planet Saturn rules structure, responsibilities and boundaries. Saturn goes retrograde every year for about 4 to 5 months and we are nearing the end of its retrograde cycle as it goes direct on the night of July 20th.   Find out where Saturn is transiting in your birth chart!

How Saturn Retrograde in Scorpio affects you

Whichever life area Saturn is stimulating is where you will need to be really honest. For example, if it is falling in your 7th house of relationships, it’s time to face any issues you’ve been avoiding. Most people don’t like confrontation, but if something needs to be said, keeping it inside and putting on a false happy face won’t make it go away.  For more information on the houses, see The 12 Houses in Astrology.

If you are in an abusive relationship, you will have an opportunity to re-evaluate the situation and to decide whether you want to stay in the relationship as it is, whether you are willing to get counselling or some kind of help, or whether you want to end it. Keep in mind that Scorpio is the sign that follows Libra. Libra sees everything in shades of grey and can’t make up its mind. Scorpio, on the other hand, sees everything in black and white, so if you do decide to end a relationship during this time, there’s going to be no going back. Make sure you are absolutely clear before you make an irrevocable choice.

Maybe it’s in your 2nd house of finances. If you are heavily in debt and you are not utilising your resources efficiently, this would be a good time to face it and to try to come up with some sensible solutions. Saturn is a wonderful teacher, because in the end, the lessons we learn enable us to have healthier relationships, more work / life balance, and a happier life in the long run. If you have been budgeting wisely and using your talents in a constructive way, this Saturn retrograde will bring a time when you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Saturn rules boundaries and limitations. Without structure we cannot build anything solid and lasting. Don’t be afraid to say NO and mean it. Many of us have a tendency to allow other people to invade our boundaries and some of us aren’t even aware of people doing it to us on a daily basis.

True story: woman aged 43 with Sun in Scorpio told her 15 year old son not to disturb her for the next hour while she was on the phone for a consultation. Just 15 minutes had gone by and her son began texting her, knocking on the door and overstepping the clear boundary she had set. Instead of noticing this and telling him to respect her space as she had requested, she asked him what he wanted and interrupted her consultation with her therapist. Luckily, the therapist saw what was happening in the moment and showed the woman what had been happening. She was truly shocked that she had been unaware of it. She will have to work on this aspect before she will be able to turn it around, but awareness is the first step in being able to change a destructive habit pattern. Once you have the awareness that you are allowing other people to walk all over you, then you can do something to change it.

The way to find out if people are intruding and demanding too much from you is to look at your emotions: are you feeling frustrated, angry, stifled? Then the likelihood is that you have repeatedly said yes when you really wanted to say NO. This can be a very painful learning experience, but in the long run, when you learn this lesson, it leads to healthier relationships.

Saturn retrograde helps you to go beyond your own limitations and shows you that you are able to stretch and achieve much more than you ever dreamed possible.
Saturn in Scorpio is ruled by Mars which means that this is a wonderful time for any kind of bodybuilding. Mars gives muscle and Saturn gives building power. If you are trying to lose weight, get fit, become physically stronger and slimmer, this is a great time to put that structure into place so that you can achieve your goals.
Retrogrades always involve some kind of internal examination and reflection. As Scorpio is the most intense sign in the zodiac, you may be doing more soul-searching than ever before. Try not to look for external results just yet, do as much of the work as you can on your inner self and when Saturn goes direct you will then see the positive results in your outer life.

Think about planting seeds in a garden. For weeks, sometimes months, there is nothing to see because everything is going on beneath the surface. Suddenly, as if by magic, grass, flowers, vegetables and colourful greenery appears. See this final part of Saturn retrograde in the same way. Don’t look outside yourself. Focus on meditating, dealing head on with your emotions and your relationships, and when Saturn goes direct on July 21st, you’ll be ready to blossom and to achieve your outer dreams.
