2014: The year of the Wooden Horse

In the same way as the Wooden Horse of Troy presented his subjects with an unexpected surprise by revealing his hidden treasures that had been stored away out of sight in his belly for a long time so too can the Horse of 2014 bring sudden surprises. Seeds that have been sown long ago can suddenly come to fruition this year and consequently bring opportunities of growth.

In the Cycle of the 12 Animals of the Chinese Zodiac the Horse represents the height of the energy, the height of the action, so the word is Go, Go Go. There is no stopping the pace of this fellow so providing your stamina is strong it is a year of great achievements. In truth the Horse takes no prisoners so if you show any signs of weakness then you will be left along the wayside for this General only knows how to command a strong army and win his battles. Try watching a Horse in a race, he never looks back but keeps his focus on his target and does not stop until he reaches his goal. The true spirit of the Horse is to run free, mane flowing in the wind so this is a year for courage in your own convictions and going for it! There is no animal stronger in the determination stakes so if this is what you need then be ready to take a piece of the action. 2014 is your opportunity because this Horse has fire in his belly.

The Horse is a leader and truly understands responsibility. Changes are coming in a fast and furious way right now and will continue to do so for many years to come. The Horse is preparing the path to a brighter future for us but again we need to be fit and healthy to keep up the pace. If you want to avoid burn out this year the appointments in your diary with your nutritionist, masseur, tennis coach and personal trainer will figure highly. Burning the candle at both ends is not an option.

(If you don't know your Chinese Zodiac sign, you can find it in our daily chinese horoscope page)

Just like any other family the family of the 12 Animals of The Chinese Zodiac have members that get on well together and members that simply do not see eye to eye.

One of the Horse’s greatest allies is his neighbour, the Sheep. Ironically these two could not be more different as the sheep has a much more laid back and easy attitude to life, taking things in his stride and simply preferring to go with the flow, indeed very little worries the Sheep. The Sheep holds a quiet dignity and it is this that the Horse admires. He knows the Sheep can be trusted and so it is that the Horse will confide his deepest secrets for safe keeping. Anyone born in the year of the Sheep can find themselves part of the action with plenty of opportunities coming their way this year.

Another key player on the Horse’s team is the Tiger. This is the entrepreneur of the team who has the bright ideas that the Horse is prepared to listen to. The Tiger is a shrewd player who only uses his energy when he knows there is prey to be found so his intuition is trustworthy and the Horse knows it so acts on his ideas without hesitation. The two work well together as the Horse is the one with the stamina to see the project through and so keeps up the motivation until the task is fulfilled. Anyone born in the year of the Tiger can expect to suddenly find themselves in the thick of the action and enjoying the commitment and the rewards.

The third member on this team who keeps the whole project on an even keel is the Dog. This animal is the level headed one who likes to keep his feet on the ground and not get carried away in the euphoria of it all. He is the one to keep his eye on the finances and ensure the project brings in a healthy return. The Dog is never wasteful. In fact he keeps his presence very low-key yet at the same time never taking his eye off the project in order to ensure outsiders are kept at bay. Anyone born in the year of the Dog should see their finances improving by the end of the year.

The Snake is the secretive confident of the Horse. You do not tend to see the Snake very often as they prefer to work quietly in the background but never underestimate the power and potential of the Snake as he tends makes progress whilst no one is watching. This is the good looking character of the 12 animals and can easily fit in to any social occasion so public relations events are second nature. This is the fore runner of the team, the sales representative who paints a bright picture to tempt the potential clientele and set up the initial enquires to open the door to business opportunities. Anyone born in the year of the Snake can find themselves with a lot of lucrative networking to do this year.

The one family member who does not bode well with the Horse is the Rat. These two are opposed in their thinking so it is a wise Rat who keeps his head down and lies low this year. Anyone born in the year of the Rat is best not to make any major decisions or major purchases this year.

What does the rest of 2014 hold for you?
