Virgo Characteristics and Personality

(August 23 – September 22)

Element: Earth
Mode: Mutable

The first semi-circle of the Zodiac, comprising the six signs that symbolise the formation of the ‘I’ (i.e. the Ego), is completed with Virgo –a ‘vital’ sign in that this is the stage where the individual develops critical thinking.

The symbol of Virgo is the Maiden, usually portrayed holding an ear of corn, which represents the harvest and the ripening of fruits.
As is the case with Gemini, Virgo is ruled by Mercury.

Contrary to Gemineans, however, the mission of Virgo people is not to collect information, but to distinguish the useful pieces of information from the useless ones. They are highly capable of separating and analysing data, and –being renowned for their critical thinking– they are equally good at making the distinction between what needs to be done now and what can be done later. This is what makes them uniquely good at setting priorities.

Their main thorn is that they often have to deal with is their need for perfection. In case they find something they have worked on to be imperfect, they feel like they will get swallowed up in chaos, which constitutes their greatest fear. Their inability to live in a chaotic environment is also the reason why they are known to be obsessed with order and cleanliness –although it is not completely unusual for them to be extremely untidy, influenced by the chaotic nature of their opposite sign, Pisces. Their stress stems from their fear of making the wrong choice, and that is why they are often indecisive and insistent on sticking to the schedule as planned.

Contrary to Leos (who directly precede them), Virgos are self-effacing and have an aversion to being at the centre of attention, because their role is to serve rather than lead.

People with Virgo prominent in their birth chart are very observant and have an eye for detail –which ties in with their natural preference for small objects as ensuring they will not call attention to themselves. This trait, however, often reaches the point where they cannot see the forest for the trees, meaning they miss the big picture because of concentrating too much on analysing details.

What is very important to note is that Virgo people are more critical of themselves than of others, and that is why they are characterised by modesty, humbleness, and a desirably independent nature. Read here for Virgo Daily Horoscope

Virgo Traits

Virgo, the sixth sign of the Zodiac is one of the most practical signs. A Virgo personality is intelligent & fastidious but that doesn’t necessarily mean that this sign is rigid or soulless. It’s just that Virgo knows only hard work and perseverance will get the job done. The sign’s practicality comes from its Earth Quality, while its adaptability and flexibility derive from its association with the Mutable Element. Take a moment Virgo friend to let this information sync in and fully understand the symbolisms, as the quality of each sign largely shapes its compatibility with other zodiac signs.

Virgo Personality

Characteristic of a Virgo personality is the esoteric need to constantly chase perfection. Virgos get paralyzed should they discover imperfections in something they made. They believe disruptions in a pattern lead to chaos and chaos is a Virgo personality’s greatest fear. Virgos cannot survive under chaotic conditions and for that reason it’s characteristic of the sign to keep everything under control and in order. Many belonging to this sign will also be obsessed with cleanliness but there are also many prone to untidiness -an influence by the opposing Pisces sign. A Virgo personality is constantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown and this is mostly for fear of making a choice that results in a negative outcome. Because of this, a Virgo is always doubtful and hesitant to stray from their original plan. Maintaining a schedule is vital for the peace of mind of a Virgo personality.

It is characteristic of a Virgo to despise the spotlight. Virgos hold the belief that their role is to serve not to lead and hence being at the centre makes them feel as if they’re there because the failed at something. Keeping away from the lights also allows them space for better observation and a Virgo does have an eye for detail. Focusing on details however often makes them miss the moon for the finger.

People under the sign of Virgo tend to be extremely hard on themselves –much more than they are on others.  All of the above however sum up to the Virgo personality being modest, humble and very independent.

The Virgo Man

Mr Virgo is a horny hound that likes to analyse everything and have his performance rated in intricate detail after the event so that he can improve on it the next time. Here we have one of the cleverest men of the zodiac and he’ll also keep you healthy because he’s particular about what he puts in his body and hopes you will be too.

How to win the heart of a Virgo

Winning the heart of your Virgo stud requires a metal detector. We’re only kidding! He only pretends to have a machine-like, north-facing demeanour purely as a defence mechanism. Being Mercury-ruled, he can be a remarkably fickle creature, and overcritical, so you’d better have a skin like an armadillo. If you promise him as much time as he likes to pootle about in his man-cave taking things apart and putting them back together again, he’ll be as happy as Donald Trump is in his.

How Virgo acts when they first fall in love

When Virgo begins to fall in love they slack off on life admin or ditch a hobby or skip the gym or have a Big Mac for breakfast. This off-kilter behavior doesn’t usually last for very long because they know the importance of a healthy heart when it’s beating faster, and it takes a very special kind of person to get beyond their defenses to reach it.
